Did You Know?

In 2019, 5.6% of Michigan high school students reported being homeless in the past 30 days—equating to approximately 22,444 teens without stable housing statewide.

Among these, an alarming 37.8% had recently run away, been kicked out, or abandoned, meaning they were unaccompanied minors; at least 6,400 of them were under age 18.

Access to shelters is extremely limited only 711 unaccompanied minors were served by youth shelters in 2018, representing just 11% of the estimated unaccompanied homeless teens.
